I’ve known who Sydney & Charlie are for a long time, we went to high school together, but I recently got the privilege of getting to know Sydney more through church. One of our first conversations was about how she had dated Charlie for 9 years and was just waiting for the day for him to propose. I was super excited when shortly after our conversation I received news that he had finally popped the question! It’s been an honor to photograph their engagement and wedding, but I’m particularly grateful for the friendship we made along the way.
It’s basically impossible to have a wedding at Oak Hill Gardens without it feeling intimate, that’s what I love about this quaint little venue in downtown London. But, something about this past Saturday felt extra intimate—the perfect number of close friends and family gathered to celebrate the beginning of a new journey for Sydney and Charlie. Their ceremony took place in front of a the greenhouse adorned with beautiful flowers arranged by Josh, the owner of Oak Hill Gardens. After their sweet ceremony, her father and family surprised her with the kindest speech and an adorable video of photos of the bride and groom growing up. Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ meal prepared by Oak Hill Gardens, finished off with the best pistachio cake from Martine’s Pastries in Lexington, KY. Then, after dinner and dancing, the children splashed in the pool while friends and family gathered around with their feet dipped in talking and laughing over drinks.
